Castlevania Chronicles III - Dracula's Curse is a remake of the legendary Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, originally released on the NES, developed by fans, for fans. The aim of this project, as was the case with the previous installment of this remake saga, is to bring one of the seemingly forgotten titles of the franchise into the modern day, improving not only the visuals but also the overall gameplay. Along the way, a number of new features have been added that will not go unnoticed by fans of the franchise.
Customize the controls to your liking
As you might expect, Castlevania Chronicles III - Dracula's Curse comes with native support for Xbox controllers or controllers using Xbox drivers, allowing you to play comfortably with virtually any gamepad connected to your PC. Of course, you can also play with a keyboard. From the pause menu you can find the keys to jump, attack and move around the setting. The very simple controls will be familiar to anyone who has ever played a metroidvania.
Four characters to choose from
One of the most special and recognizable features of Castlevania III is that, instead of having a single protagonist, you can play as four different characters. In Castlevania Chronicles III - Dracula's Curse you can also control these four heroes, each with their own unique moves, special attacks, and abilities. These characters are: Trevor Belmont, who is the first hero you will be able to control; Grant Danasty, a rogue specialized in knives; Sypha Belnades, a priestess who is an expert in spells; and Alucard himself, Dracula's son in his first major appearance within the saga.
No more passwords
One of the most interesting new features of Castlevania Chronicles III - Dracula's Curse with respect to the original game is that you can now save your game. You will no longer need to note down the passwords for the different levels. Instead, you will be able to save your progress at different save points throughout the story. Taking into account that the difficulty level is quite high, this is undoubtedly one of the most interesting additions to this remake. Keep in mind that at the beginning of the adventure you will only have three lives, although you can find extra lives scattered throughout the setting. If you reach zero, the game will end and you will have to start again from the last save point.
Many bosses have been completely redesigned
In Castlevania Chronicles III - Dracula's Curse, one area that has been given special attention is the final bosses. Many of the game's legendary bosses have been completely redesigned to offer players a new challenge. In the original game, technical limitations made some of these confrontations a clunky affair. In this remake, however, these fights are not only much more spectacular but also much more fun and challenging.
A 10/10 metroidvania
Download Castlevania Chronicles III - Dracula's Curse and discover an outstanding fangame, which achieves something that seemed impossible: an improvement on the previous installment of this remake saga. The game, once again, offers absolutely spectacular visuals and a soundtrack with some remixes that you'll want to listen to on repeat. Undoubtedly, one of the best free fangames that you can find on Windows.
